Welcome to our collection of ESL listening comprehension activities.

These audio recordings and quizzes have all been created by native English speakers, to help you get used to "real world" English.

The activities on this website are divided into levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced, and each activity is a little more difficult than than the previous one.

We have a mixture of news reports, casual conversations, announcements, extracts from classic books, and just about everything else we could think of!

As well as using more difficult vocabulary and longer, more difficult sentences, the speakers on the recordings speak faster and faster as the difficulty level increases. Advanced-level recordings are read at native speed. If you can understand these you deserve a 'pat on the back' for your great English!

You will hear English in different situations. Some of the recordings are news reports, some are conversations between friends, and some are conversations at work. We will add new English listening activities every so often so please check back regularly.

Each English listening activity is accompanied by a series of comprehension questions which will be automatically scored. On this website you can also complete a fill-in-the-blanks activity after each recording.
